Fighting a Case of the Mondays with Santa Claus

Unfortunately, we’ve all suffered a Case of the Mondays – I don’t want its ugliness contaminating my entire day, let alone my week so I’m gonna do something about it.
How it works: Every Monday, I’m gonna share one of my favorite things and a short description of why I love it. Do the same by leaving one of your favorite things – anything – in the comments. It doesn’t really matter what it is as long as it qualifies as being a personal favorite.

Here’s mine…
Yeah, when I was a kid I did the Santa Claus thing. I was the annoying son that’d be up around 12:30am running down to the hall to see what gifts had been dropped off in our living room.
To make matters worse for the parental units, I’d insist on playing rocking out with a few of them before going back to bed.

I love thinking back to all of the Christmases that I had as a kid. Of course, as I’ve gotten older Christmas is no longer about the what but it’s about the who. I’m completely content with the day consisting of nothing more than being mindful for the actual reason for the holiday and with hanging out with my family.

I got in a fight in 1st grade because I insisted on Santa Claus being real.
I was pretty adamant about that and was very disappointed when I learned the truth (he is not real, FYI).
But I remember never being able to sleep that night. I actual still do that to this day, on Christmas eve I have a hard time going to sleep. Maybe it is the Chinese food we eat every christmas eve or the anticipation, probably both.
Wait, what? Not real?
My wife was actually the type of kid that never believed in Santa. I’ve told her that she was the kind of kid that I couldn’t stand.
Like you, I still get really excited Christmas Eve but it’s for totally different reasons. It’s definitely not because of Chinese food, though I can see how that’d disrupt a few things..
Lincoln Logs! I loved those.
You’re totally right about Christmases though. Each year it gets harder to make up a “Wish list” for others to buy me stuff. I do like the giving aspect though.
Lincoln Logs and the Velveteen Rabbit were a few of the only things that mattered then.
Lovin’ the Zach Morris phones on the floor.
I kid you not: I took that joker to school when I was in 5th grade and pretended to order a pizza.
