About

Who are you?

Hey, I’m Tom. My wife and I live, work, and play just outside of Atlanta, Georgia.

By day, I’m a software engineer. The rest of the time I’m (in no particular order): a runner, guitarist, Christian, wannabe blogger, husband, friend, and geek. I like coffee, good music, and cold weather.

What’s the purpose of all this?

I’ve been pursuing Christianity for over half my life and I’m doing so now more than I ever have before. Like anyone else, there are times where I wrestle with various aspects of my faith. There are a lot of people that seem to have the Christian thing down and there are a lot of people that wanna get to that point.

When it comes to my faith, I’ve always been one that has kinda played my cards close to my chest. If I was wrestling with some aspect of Christianity or was working through some kinda problem, I usually kept it to myself.

The thing is, I know that I want my life to be more than a personal struggle with a faith that is shared among many. I wanna put my time towards something that intersects with my faith and my common interests. Some people do this with leadership. Some people do it with music. I’m gonna do it with technology and writing.

What’s with the name?

The whole point of what I’m trying to do with all this is summarized well in the following verse from More Than Useless (a song by one of my favorite bands):

“I noticed, I know this: A week is a symbol of how I use my time.
Resent it, I spent it convincing myself the world is doing just fine,
Without me doing anything of any consequence,
Without me showing any sign of ever making sense of my time.
It’s my life and my right to use it like I should,
Like He would for the good of everything that I would ever know.”
