Pure as Freshly Fallen Snow

In the quiet of this morning,
I sit and feel You here.
I know You’ve something for me,
As I know that You are near.

I cherish every moment,
While I wait here at Your feet.
For nothing’s more important,
Than this time with You, how sweet!

“man of God… run from… evil… pursue righteousness”

Short and to the point, Lord, If we would just flesh this out every day of our lives we would accomplish Your holy will for our lives. If we truly want to be a man (or woman) of God, this is how it’s done.

“run from …evil” Why is it so alluring? We are drawn by its supposed beauty and appeal. We embrace and indulge the facade of fulfillment only, too late, to realize that in reality it is death with which we have been intimate. And when evil’s work is done, we are stained –  we are sullied. We cannot cleanse ourselves. We reek of defeat and defilement. We are undone and we cannot undo our undoneness. We are condemned. We are damned… “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips…” Isaiah 6:5 NASB Is there no hope? No, in and of myself, there is not… There may be no hope in me but, praise God, there is hope outside of me!

“pursue righteousness” “… we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear on (Jesus Christ). He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.” Ephesians 1:6-7 NLT

When we embrace You, Lord, we are saved! An intimate relationship with You brings life! The stains of our sin are as if they had never been! Washed clean, pure as the freshly fallen snow – but not just covered up – eradicated! Our aroma is the bouquet of the beauty of Christ and His wonderful gift of grace and mercy. We are victors. We are conquerors! Because of Christ we are made pure, we are made holy! We are redone to be what we were meant to be Praise God!

Lord, help me to embrace You! To find my true calling in my relationship with You. Enable me to “run from… evil…” and to “pursue righteous and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.” Amen!!

Choices

Father, please use this time together to draw me closer to You and to strengthen my determination to be faithful and true to You. These last few days have been a battle; sin has been battering me from all sides.  I pray that I would do as Paul commands in 1 Corinthians 16:13 “Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.” I am victorious in You, Almighty God, only in You.

I Thessalonians 1:8-10 (<<click here)

Jesus, I pray that Your word would ring out from me to people everywhere just as it did with the believers of Thessalonica! May every aspect of my life be a proclamation of the victory that is found only in an intimate relationship with You. Every day in every situation I have choices to make – to be loving or hateful, forgiving, to pass along gossip, to feed the monster of discontent, to go with the flow and complain about people or situations beyond my control, to stop, listen and encourage when it would be easier to ignore the whole thing – and the list could go on and on. But Lord, You have called me to be salt and light in my world (Mathew 5:13-16) Grant me the desire to do so willingly and eagerly! And as Paul proclaims at the end of this passage, what I do is all the more important for Your return is immanent! Help me to strive to make You the focal point of my life so others will be encouraged to stay true to You and walk with You faithfully. And if they do not know You that my actions would be a beacon shining on You showing them the way.

Joy and Pain

Thank You, Father, for a beautiful day yesterday!  The opportunity to share in Ariana & Andrews special day and to catch up with other fine young people was a blessing. Looking ahead for this day please be with us – goodbyes are never easy. I pray for Massey, Karen and myself as once again life takes us down different paths. Thank You for the time we’ve had together.

Lord, You are showing me that I have the responsibility to proclaim a wonderful secret. At just the right time You came to us – a gift of unsurpassable worth! You came so You show us the way to have an intimate relationship with – by inviting You to live in us. It’s a wonderful gift and one that fills us with joy but it will not be a journey without suffering, for even Your journey was painful.

Help me with Your wisdom and direction, to warn and teach others about You so that we may all come to that point of perfection, that is maturity, that You have called us to. Help me to shepherd others along this life journey of joy and pain until we reach the end of this life, stepping across the threshold into Your wonderful glory for all eternity!
