Press On!

Abba, You are so gracious to wake me every morning. Thank You for Your love and watching over me. Help me to focus on You throughout my day and to hear and heed what You would have me say and do and think upon. I praise You and I lift Your name on high where it rightly belongs!

Lord Jesus, enable me to mine the riches of this passage this morning – clear the cobwebs, block the distractions, please.

“Press on” “possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me” “focus on…forgetting the past… looking forward to what lies ahead” “press on…to the end of the race” “hold on to the progress…already made.”

Don’t just sit back and pray it happens – push ahead! Lord, You know what I need. “Before the creation of the world, You knew me (and loved me! )” You know the perfection You have for me. Help me to diligently “press on”! – to put all my energy and effort into pursuing that and to coming to a full knowledge of what that means!

There’s nothing I can do about my past – failings, bad decisions, things which I think were undeservingly done to me – my goal TODAY is to focus on looking forward to what lies ahead.” “Press on!” to what You have yet for me to do, to what I have yet to learn, to a still deeper relationship with You! I don’t know what all of that is or means but help me to trust You with it all!

Help me, give me the tenacity to not lose ground but to “hold on to the progress… already made” You’ve helped me come so far from where I was, Lord and I know my apprenticeship is nowhere near complete. I give You all the credit for progress made and cling to Your grace and mercy to carry me forward, upward- higher and higher! Solidify my grounding in You – strengthen my foundation. May the roots of my life delve deeper into You – fortifying me, feeding me the richness of Your resources. Storms will come. I pray you will enable me to stand tall, to not fall, and to get myself upon the “Rock that is stronger than I” Help me to be a lighthouse for You that will endure. Persevere! And because of that endurance that my light would shine all the brighter, constantly, deliberately drawing others to You!!

♪♫♪ Press On ♫♪♫

Sometimes this world starts breaking me down
I get so lost I think I’ll never be found
And there are moments of fear and doubt
Even the best fall to the ground

I am a mess, I am a wrecking ball
I must confess that I still don’t get it all
Lord I believe that all Your words are true
Doesn’t matter where I’m going if I’m going with You
I press on, I press on, I press on
When I still don’t get it

I see the world through my jaded eyes
I get frustrated when there is no Why
I put my focus on worthless things
Even the strong fall to their knees
God only knows what we all need

Life goes on, life goes on
But Your love will prove
All I need, all I need
I will find in You
Life goes on, life goes on
But Your love will prove
All I need, all I need
I will find in You
I press on

Life goes on, life goes on
But Your love will prove
All I need, all I need
I will find in You
Life goes on, life goes on
But Your love will prove
All I need, all I need
I press on

Grow Down

Father, forgive me for yielding to distraction…this is my time with You and Facebook should have no part in it. My phone is down and my attention is on You. Please help me hear and listen to what You have to say to me today.

Ephesians 3:14-21 (<<click the green)

Lord, help me to be “empowered…with inner strength through Your Spirit.” I know You have been doing a new work in me, accomplishing things that I could never do on my own (Praise Your Holy name! All the glory to You!) and I pray that I will cling to You. May my inner strength continue to be powered from Your “glorious, unlimited resources.”

This wonderful passage admonishes me to let my roots “grow down into Your love and keep me strong.”  Without You, I am surely weak and helpless! In my own strength, I fail. Only in You am I victorious. Thank you, Lord…

I am incomplete without Your love. Help me so that my overwhelming desire will be to “have the power to understand how WIDE, how LONG, how HIGH, and how DEEP Your love is”! May I “experience the love of Christ” – overwhelm me with Your love. May it gush and splash over on to all I meet!

And “through Your mighty power at work within me accomplish infinitely more than I might ask or [even] think”!

Plough Deep

Father, use this day for Your glory. May my actions, thoughts, and words bring You praise. Direct me in the way I should go. May I reflect the light of Your love brightly into a darkened world. Amen.

Lord, my reading in the The Valley of Vision this morning says so much that have to share. It. So many things on so many fronts – this is my prayer as well.

THE DEEPS

Lord Jesus,
Give me a deeper repentance,
a horror of sin,
a dread of its approach;
Help me chastely to flee it,
and jealously to resolve that my heart shall be thine alone.
Give me a deeper trust,
that I may lose myself to find myself in thee,
the ground of my rest
the spring of my being.
Give me a deeper knowledge of thyself
as Saviour, Master, Lord, and King.
Give me deeper power in private prayer,
more sweetness in thy Word,
more steadfast grip on its truth.
Give me deeper holiness in speech, thought, action,
and let me not seek moral virtue apart from thee.
Plough deep in me, great Lord, heavenly Husbandman,
that my being may be a tilled filed,
the roots of grace spreading far and wide,
until thou alone art seen in me,
thy beauty golden like summer harvest,
thy fruitfulness as autumn plenty.
I have no Master but thee,
no law but thy will,
no delight but thyself,
no wealth but that thou givest,
no good but that thou blesses,
no peace but that thou bestowest.
I am nothing but that thou makest me,
I have nothing but that I receive from thee,
I can be nothing but that grace adorns me.
Quarry me deep, dear Lord,
and then fill me to overflowing with living water.

Strong and True

5121963453_4c85314ae9_b

Father, help me to always keep You at the forefront of my life. Through thick and thin, help me to follow You with my whole heart, holding nothing back. Struggles and heartache will surely come but help me to cling to You. Wonderful blessings will surely come, as well, but in those times let the glory go to You and You alone!

Colossians 2:6-7 (<<click here)

…continue to follow CHRIST

…let your roots grow down in CHRIST

…build your lives on CHRIST

Doing these things will cause our faith to grow stronger in truth and will cause our thankfulness to overflow!

Lord, there’s a lot in these two verses! If I am consistent in following You (continue) I will be solidly grounded (roots grow down) and will be enabled to build on You as a solid foundation that will not be moved – my contribution to the building of Your kingdom will be strong and true.

Yesterday’s Our Daily Bread reading ties in here! Deuteronomy 8:11-20 stresses that when we take the credit for the blessings You’ve given us that we will fail! I can’t take the building materials You give me and use them to build what I want, where I want.  A weak foundation and shoddy construction only lead to calamity! When I am obedient and give You the credit my faith will remain strong and gratitude will come naturally.

Lord, help me to always be looking to You for guidance and wisdom and strength and courage to accomplish the tasks a hand. Fill my thoughts and actions, so I will be a light for You shining brightly in a dark world!
