See What You See

Father, we have a full day ahead of us. Help me to focus on the important. In everything I do enable me to do what pleases You. Use me today as an instrument to further Your kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

Lord, just a few verses back Paul spoke of prayer and here he does it again. Prayer cannot be an occasional thing- we must be diligent! Every aspect of our lives – day in, day out – must be covered in prayer. You can use absolutely any element of our day to accomplish Your will.

I would ask, Lord, that You would heighten my senses – my spiritually sensitive senses – to be aware of every opportunity that comes my way. Help me to not be oblivious to what You need me to accomplish. Enable me to look people in the eye, to peer into their souls, to truly empathize with them in the situation in which they find themselves. Help me to love as You love and to act when needed.

Lord, You are faithful! Strengthen me. Guard me from evil. Use me as you will.

Imminent Arrival

Father, thank You for my Daily Bread Devotional today! The reading from Psalm 37 was very encouraging, especially vs. 24 – “When [I] fall, I will not be hurled headlong, because the Lord is the One who holds [my] hand.” I am so very grateful, Father, that You hold my hand!

Lord, it’s been 2000 years since You returned to Your Father and we still eagerly await Your return! The time does not dispel our hope and the assurance that Your arrival is imminent. Lord, help me to be diligent in the work You have for me! May I be sensitive to You as You bring others across my path. Embolden me. Give me the words. Fill me with Your love, so deep and wide. Thank You for Your long-suffering patience for You did not come “into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through” Yourself (John 3:17) Thank You for loving us so! Praise Your holy name forever and ever!

Why I Do What I Do

Good morning, Father! Each of these mornings proves your faithfulness. You wake me up at just the right time. Thank You for caring about me so much. Help me to draw closer to You through our time together and throughout the day. Strengthen my resolve to not yield to the things that take me away from You. Forgive my weaknesses. Help me to focus on You.

Philippians 3:1-3 (<<click here)

My study Bible* sums up this passage well by stating “…don’t think that you will satisfy God by feverishly doing his work. God notices all you do and will reward you for it, but only if it comes as a loving response to his free gift of salvation.”

When it comes to my responsibilities in preparing for worship services I would say I work feverishly, diligently, even doggedly, it is very important to me that I do so. But…do I do it “as a loving response to Your free gift of salvation” to me, Lord?

I think my overarching mindset is that I allow You to guide me in what I put into our worship services but I have to admit that I do not consciously ask for Your direction very often. The element You added this last week as a call to worship for Pentecost was very meaningful to me and others (Thank You!) Help me to seek out weekly what You would have us do. You know what will impact us. You know what will touch our hearts and draw us closer to You. Help me to be sensitive to listen, then to act on Your guidance.
