Still feeling out of it but doing a bit better after a pretty rough day yesterday. Father, I would ask for Your continued touch upon my body, and may our time together be fruitful. Amen.

(I’ve been dealing with some physical issues with my throat and also my eyes – which is why I didn’t post on Monday morning. I’ve still feeling it, so here’s a post from a few years back. I pray – and would ask for your prayers, too – that I will be back at it tomorrow. God bless!)

Father, Almighty God of all that is, I will never cease to be in awe of Your attention towards me. I see myself as one amongst billions! But You see me…as me and You interact with me because You love me. I am important to You. Thank You, Father, for Your love and personal attention.

In one of my excursions down the hall last night a thought occurred to me, Lord. It’s related to the kind of relationship that we have. My thought was about the infamous “TAG NOT TO BE REMOVED” tag on mattresses. OK, it’s like 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning and odd things can pop up in your mind! But hear me out.

When we come into existence, we get a “TAG NOT TO BE REMOVED”. Now we can cut off a mattress tag (it’s really there to keep the manufacturer in line) but the tag on us means that we belong to You, our Creator. We are a one-of-a-kind being. We are created to fulfill a unique niche that no one else can. We are special.

But where we and the mattress differ is that our tag can’t be removed. We may not like the tag. We may deny that we were created. We may flat out deny the existence of our Creator…but our tag cannot be removed. We are who we are.

No matter how much we rebel. No matter how far we run. No matter how much disdain, apathy, or hatred we may have for our Creator…He still loves us. We cannot sever the “tag” that binds us to You. And no matter how far we wander, we are never too far gone to return home – to the One who loves us.

Depending on where you stand Psalm 139:1-18 can be extremely comforting or, I suppose, infuriating. Take a moment and click on it to read it in its entirety.

If time’s a little tight, here are the first few verses,

O Lord, you have examined my heart
….and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
….You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
You see me when I travel
….and when I rest at home.
….You know everything I do.
You know what I am going to say
….even before I say it, Lord.
You go before me and follow me.
….You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
….too great for me to understand! vs1-6 NLT

Lord, I for one am comforted by the words of David in verse 18,

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me! NLT

Amen!
