The Lord is king!
….Let the nations tremble!
He sits on his throne between the cherubim.
….Let the whole earth quake!
The Lord sits in majesty in Jerusalem,
….exalted above all the nations.
Let them praise your great and awesome name.
Your name is holy! Psalm 99:1-3 NLT

Alright, I’m going to do it again. I’ve spent my time this evening pondering the passage at hand and, honestly, I’m still not at a good place to make good decisions as to how to move forward. I need more time to allow God to let it percolate in my mind! So I’m sharing a post from April of 2019 (it was my first spring driving a school bus!)…and I’ll get back to you soon with the next installment from Acts.

****

I tell you one thing; I rarely got to see what I see nowadays, those many years I worked in retail! This morning, the sun was just starting to color the horizon when I started my route and it was just cool enough that there was quite a bit of patchy, low-lying fog. It was breathtaking! The only bad thing about it is the fact that I can’t have my phone out, so I can’t get any pictures! And it’s not like I can go back later this afternoon and snap a few shots!

That’s the nature of fog. It’s here for a while and then once it warms up – once the sun comes out – it’s gone!

In the Old Testament book of Hosea, we realize that saying the Israelites were rebellious would be a great understatement! They had forsaken the one true God and were worshipping other gods of their own making. And because of their insubordination, God spoke through the prophet Hosea saying,

Therefore, they will disappear like the morning mist,
like dew in the morning sun,
like chaff blown by the wind,
like smoke from a chimney. Hosea 13:3 NLT

Even the newest parts of the Bible are close to 2000 years old but slice it just about anywhere and you will find a microcosm of who and where we are today.

We are rebellious – another great understatement! We do what we want! We “worship” whatever we desire to place on that pedestal of our lives and proceed to thumb our nose at God. We are self-sufficient. We are independent! We don’t need Him…we think. But we do… Without our Creator, we are nothing… What we do will amount to nothing… We are here but for a breadth of time, then we “will disappear like the morning mist, like the dew of the morning…”

It brings tears to my eyes to think of how much time I have wasted in my own life. Time that, if I’d only given it over to my Father for His use and glory, could have been multiplied hundreds of times over! But how often have I thought that I knew better? At other times I was just distracted by the bling of this world. …worthless…wasted…the precious commodity of time that is mine to use as I will…

Oh, Lord Jesus, forgive us! Please, forgive me! In the course of eternity, my life is but a mist. Enable me to use it wisely. May I use it to the full for what You deem is worthy. Amen.
