It’s quite blustery this morning, Father, and it reminds me of an (at this point in time), an old contemporary Christian classic by a group of siblings who called themselves The 2nd Chapter of Acts. It was released in 1974 and is entitled You Don’t Know Which Way the Wind Blows.

And as my thoughts have flowed this way, of course, I have had to stop and listen to the song, again (I just listened to my playlist of them a couple of days ago!) And after doing so, it stopped me in my tracks – how applicable to today! And the reason why? It is based on Scripture.

25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?      27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:25-34 NLT

And one more passage,

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

Really does any more need to be said? Here is the song, and the lyrics, too, for your convenience.

Feel a feeling
Say a saying
But you’ll still be lonely
If you think life is only for this moment

Do a doing
Mourn a mourning
Still won’t get you off your sorrow
So go ahead and cry, but you can’t pry a look at tomorrow

Refrain

You don’t know which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow
You don’t know which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow

Run a running
Hide a hiding
Whenever you hear the truth
And when you ask for the proof, you won’t listen. Listen.

Praise a praising
Build a building
Trying to get peace in your life
And you don’t even know wrong from right
Where is your wisdom?

Refrain

Die a dying
Resurrecting
By believing and receiving
Forgiveness from Jesus who took the sin from sinning

You don’t know which way the wind blows
So how can you plan tomorrow
Jesus knows which way the wind blows
So give Him your tomorrow

Believe Him and receive

Refrain
