We are only at the beginning of an arduous ordeal, and there is nothing to lean on but You, Father. Help us to realize that You are far more than enough. May we trust You with all the details and find peace in You. As it says in Your Word, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:6 KJV Amen.

1 Peter 5:7 (<<click here to read the passage)

Here is today’s wonderfully familiar passage from the New Living Translation,

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

And then here it is from the Amplified Bible, leading into it with verse 6,

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].

Lord Jesus may the passage You have given me today soak into my heart and mind. It is what we need where we find ourselves! My Life Application Study Bible’s note on this verse is oh so appropriate.

Carrying our worries, stresses, and daily struggles by yourself shows that you have not trusted God fully with your life. It takes humility, however, to recognize that God cares, to admit your need, and to let others in God’s family help you. Sometimes we think that struggles caused by our own sin and foolishness are not God’s concern. But when we turn to God in repentance, he will bear the weight even of those struggles. Letting God have Your anxieties calls for action, not passivity. Don’t submit to circumstances but to the Lord who controls circumstances.

Lord, there are times – far too many times – when I am a fool…I seek Your forgiveness and ask for Your strength to move forward. So many times, when I am down, is when the devil pounces. Help me to always keep my armor at the ready.

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians 6:10-18 NLT

Lead me this day and every day, oh my Savior! Amen.
